Learn to look past outward appearances
I’m sure that you have heard the expression, “You can’t judge a book by its cover” or “Everything that glitters is not gold.” The point here is never base your entire decision on what you are seeing because you don’t have enough information yet.
Make time to conduct a thorough assessment using active listening, open-ended questions and direct questions. This will insure that you are not making incorrect assumptions or pre-judgments based on outward appearances.
