It’s 2016 now and many businesses are developing new marketing plans to implement throughout the year. As a millennial, I always encourage my clients to use the digital space to market their services and products, more so than traditional media.
That’s not to say that traditional media is dead, but it definitely has taken a backseat to digital marketing over the past five years. The days of anticipating the morning paper to arrive at your doorstep are long gone and a simple “click” on your CNN app is how your target audience gets its daily dose of news. Below are three tactics you should consider implementing in your 2016 marketing plan.
Utilize Periscope
Launched this past March, Periscope has quickly become the most popular live streaming app. Not only does it create instant engagement with your consumers, but it also personalizes your brand while positioning yourself as an expert. You also get real time feedback! If you want to find out exactly what your target audience wants from you, just simply ask. Since it is connected to your Twitter account, it is a great way to build your audience on both social media platforms.
Periscope can be used to for live Q&A’s, product demos or it can be used to offer a simple webinar on this social media platform. This is definitely an awesome substitute if you are frightened of public speaking but still want to share your knowledge to a large audience. Top brands such as Mountain Dew, Red Bull and Adidas have jumped on the Periscope bandwagon and have found extremely creative ways to utilize this live app.
Create interactive and niche content
I am a huge fan of useful content. Not only does it last much longer than a simple advertisement, but you also get a chance to share your expertise while also being able to inform or inspire your audience.
Although creating strong and useful content is great, it is also important to stand out from the other millions of articles online by creating interactive and niche content. Interactive content such as Playbuzz quizzes, memes and videos are great tools to keep your audience engaged and informed.
Creating niche content is also another way to stand out from other articles by targeting who you are talking to and talking directly to that specific audience.
Going mobile
If your current website, blog, newsletter, or any of your content or graphics are not mobile-friendly, it is an absolute must for 2016. Unfortunately, I have been on multiple company websites via mobile device attempting to view an article only to have to zoom in because the webpage wasn’t mobile friendly. Not having a mobile-friendly website tends to keep your potential clients/customers away. Being able to view content on any device is extremely important since a lot of people (not only millennials) view their news on the go. Why not hire a creative designer as soon as possible to create an engaging and visually pleasing site via mobile?
Follow these tips and you’ll make great strides for 2016 in the digital space.
